Why choose an energy assessment?

Whether you are planning a small upgrade or a major refurbishment, we have the qualifications and experience to properly assess the energy efficiency of your property and explain the outcomes in a clear and meaningful way.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) tell you how energy efficient a building is and give it a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient).

They are very similar to the multi-coloured stickers on new appliances and can tell the occupier of a building how costly the energy bills are likely to be, and how much carbon dioxide will be emitted.

Your EPC will include a list of recommendations for energy efficiency home improvements such as improving the lighting or insulation.

EPCs are valid for up to 10 years, and it is a legal requirement to have one produced by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) before you sell or rent your property.

Our surveyors are qualified DEAs and can help with your energy assessments and EPC needs.

U-Value calculations

U-values are used as a measure of thermal performance (heat loss) in building materials.

They are important because they can tell us how effective certain parts of a building are at stopping heat being lost to the outside world.

U-value thresholds are set out in building regulations to ensure that energy efficiency standards are met when building new properties or upgrading and extending existing ones.

We are members of a nationally recognised U-value Competency Scheme which ensures the consistency and quality of its members calculations, and we can help with your energy assessments and U-values needs.

Whole house retrofit

Whole house retrofit is a complete approach to making home more energy efficient.

It maps out a journey for your property that includes strategies for improving:

  • Insulation

  • Ventilation

  • Heating efficiency

This is fundamental to achieving PAS2030 and PAS2035 standards for energy efficiency in buildings.

Green Home Systems offers whole house retrofit services such as retrofit assessor and retrofit coordinator.
